A few days back, I was chilling on my friend’s couch searching for the Dead Pool 2 red band trailer. As much as I wanted to see the merc with a mouth, I didn’t want to log in to my account using his computer and WiFi. This got me thinking, what about all those poor fans who are facing the same issue! If you are a kid, leave this page now! Everyone else, listen up.
Why There is Age Restriction?
YouTube has an age restriction policy for videos that contain violence, adult scenes and nudity, illegal activities, and filthy language. Youtube says that in order to watch these videos, you must be logged in and be 18 years of age. Otherwise, you will be greeted with this sign.
This is to protect children from consuming content that isn’t appropriate for their age. Fair enough. This is why it also becomes our responsibility to protect their innocence. Also Read: How do YouTube Channels Make Money
1. Musepic- Watch Age Restricted YouTube Videos on Android
Musepic is a third-party YouTube video player app for the Android platform that is free but comes with in-app purchases. It comes with widgets and popup style floating screen to play, say music videos, on repeat. Search for any red band trailer or restricted content video and you would be able to watch it without having to log in to your YouTube account. You can play any part of the video on the loop as well. You can upgrade for $0.99 that will allow you to move and resize the popup as you desire.
Download Musepic (Android – Freemium)
2. NetTube- Watch age Restricted YouTube Videos on iPad/iPhone
This one is for iOS users who are looking to watch restricted content on their iPhone and iPad. Like their Android counterparts, NetTube will allow you to surf and watch YouTube videos without having to register or log in.
While other features like search, bookmark, and watchlist are similar to how things work in the YouTube app, there is no way to watch videos in a floating popup as we saw earlier. That is not a deal-breaker but would have been a nice feature. Download NetTube (Freemium – iOS)
Watch age Restricted Videos on YouTube Without Signing in on Your Computer
Although the following workarounds are easier done on computers, however, you can also try them on mobile devices as well. Simply copy the URL of the video from the YouTube app, and paste it into any smartphone browser such as Chrome or Firefox, and it should work. For this instance, we are using the screenshots from the desktop, but all the following hacks work well on both Android and iOS, as well. Let’s begin.
3. Use a Proxy
The oldest trick in the book. Whether your IP is banned or you simply don’t want to log in, proxy seems to solve all these issues. Even better is using a VPN. This is because YouTube works better with VPN than proxy which is owned by a third party. You can use any proxy that catches your attention. I am using a Proxy Site. Launch the site and enter the URL of the video you want to watch.
You can select the EU or US server on the left. Hit on Go when done. You should now see the trailer in its full glory.
Sit back and enjoy it.
4. NSFW Way
NSFW (Not Safe For Work) pretty much sums up what the issue is, but what you don’t know is that your problem is now your solution. Here is how. Click on the URL so you can edit the YouTube URL. Enter ‘NSFW’ before youtube.com in the URL.
Hit enter and your Deadpool video should play now.
Easy does it. Also Read: How to Whitelist Specific YouTube Channels on Adblocker
5. Repeat Your Success
Just like the NSFW hack, you can use the word repeat in the URL to play restricted videos on YouTube without having to log in. Instead of adding at the beginning of the URL, this time, you will add the word ‘repeat’ after youtube.
When the page loads, you should see your red band trailer ready for you.
6. Use the Word ‘Embed’
Another URL hack but this time, instead of taking you to another site, it will work right inside YouTube. Cool, huh? Click on the URL again so you can edit it. Now replace the string ‘watch?v=’ with ’embed’ like so:
This will not only allow you to watch the video, but it will open it in full-screen mode too. Unfortunately, there is no way to close the full-screen mode so when you are done watching the video, close the tab, and begin again.
7. Download the YouTube Video
If all of the above methods don’t work for you then you can simply download the YouTube video to your device and watch it in peace. There are plenty of ways to do it but I prefer the SS method. Let me show you an example. Let’s say you have a YouTube video link that you want to watch without signing in. Simply put “ss” before youtube in the URL like this https://www.ssyoutube.com/watch?v=example/. This would redirect you to en.savefrom.net. You can then download the video from this page. Simple enough.
The best part of this method is that you can use it on a desktop, Android, or even an iPhone.
